December 2010 - Lee Adger, Author & Teaching Professional, Honored By African American Golfer's Digest.
New York, NY (December 1, 2010) --The African American Golfer's Digest, the nation's leading print publication and online portal for avid black golfers, announces its second annual "Outstanding Leaders In Golf" awards that will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Providence Golf Club, 1518 Clubhouse Boulevard, Davenport, (Orlando) Florida. The award recipients represent the strong leadership and diversity present in the game of golf today and the distinguished winners encompass various professions, industries and ethnicities.
Among the roster of distinguished honorees is Lee Adger of Duncanville, Texas. Adger has 39 years of experience playing and teaching golf to all skill levels, adults and juniors. As an amateur, Lee qualified for theTexas State Open in 1991 by winning a spot in a playoff with such professionals as the long drive champion Art Sellinger and other players from the Ben Hogan Tour.
While serving as Head golf professional & teaching instructor at Jeremy's Golf Center he organized and conducted golf tournaments, developed junior and adult golf programs, instructed clinics and summer camps, and was the personal coach for some of the players on the Red Oak, Midlothian, Duncanville and Desoto high school golf teams.
Because he was self taught he developed a great passion and desire to help others enjoy the game without becoming confused and frustrated. He used the knowledge acquired from his personal trials and development to achieve his goal. Lee's dynamic contribution to golfers is his concept to develop and perfect "the swing". He is the author of his book "The Pendulum Swing", a brilliant concept designed to improve anyone's game.
His instructions improved the performance of an eight-year-old finalist in the 2005 National Championship of Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip, and Putt Challenge in Orlando, Florida.
Adger is the Teaching professional at Fun City Golf Center in Grand Prairie, Texas and Director of Golf Instruction at Country View Golf Course in Lancaster, Texas.
"Our 2011 honorees are exceptional organizations and individuals whose endeavors are opening doors and extending opportunities in the game throughout the industry to African Americans. Their efforts, foresight, courage and devotion are very deserving of this prized honor," said Cook.
The honorees were selected from among dozens of nominations that arrived from the magazine's readership and its Editorial Advisory Board over the spring and summer season and winners were personally selected by Ms. Cook for their commitment to professional excellence and dedication in growing the sport, business, careers and participation of golf among African Americans.
To commemorate this special tribute, honorees will be included in an editorial profile featured in the magazine's Winter/January 2011 (PGA Show edition) of the African American Golfer's Digest.
